Melissa (Lisa M.) Rolli writes children’s books that celebrate curiosity, culture, and the courage to try something new. As the co-author of the Cruise of a Lifetime series, she brings young readers aboard the SS Adventure to explore the world alongside Mac, a dramatic and lovable Macaroni penguin with a flair for performance and a heart as big as the sea.
A U.S. Army veteran, wife, and mother of four boys, Melissa holds dual bachelor’s degrees in English and History from the University of New Mexico and is a graduate of the Denver Publishing Institute. Her background in journalism sharpened her eye for detail and strengthened her ability to tell stories that connect, inform, and inspire.
Today, she channels that experience into lively, culturally rich chapter books designed for ages 6–9. Each Cruise of a Lifetime adventure blends laugh-out-loud humor with global exploration, introducing young readers to traditions, music, food, geography, and the joy of belonging to a team.
When she is not writing, Melissa can usually be found exploring new places, diving into creative projects, and finding inspiration in everyday adventures.

Alexandrea Kleinsmith creates stories that spark curiosity, celebrate adventure, and invite young readers to see the world with fresh eyes. As the co-author of the Cruise of a Lifetime series, she helps bring the vibrant world of the SS Adventure to life for early chapter book readers.
A lifelong lover of books and experienced educator, Alexandrea draws on her classroom background to craft stories that support literacy, curiosity, and social-emotional growth.
With a passion for engaging young minds through humor and heart, Alexandrea focuses on storytelling that blends playful energy with meaningful moments of growth. Her work supports the series mission of introducing children ages 6 to 9 to global cultures, teamwork, and the confidence that comes from trying something new.
When she is not writing, Alexandrea can be found researching new ports of call or taste-testing new international dishes in the name of literary accuracy.
